Laurence Vallières

BIO

Laurence Vallières studied in Los Angeles and was once stationed in St. Petersburg, Russia. These experiences have had a profound impact on Vallières. Vallières's creations focus on social issues such as people and nature, urban and rural gaps. In response to the concept of “natural impermanence and fragility”, she uses large amounts of discarded cardboard boxes, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and other waste as a medium to make large animal sculptures or pop culture characters. She believes that collectors care about art in the same way that the general public cares about living.
